Limpopo police investigating murder-suicide
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
Police in Limpopo have launched an investigation after they came across the burnt body of a 75-year-old woman in the Madibeng village outside Tzaneen.
The woman allegedly had an altercation with her husband last night during which he allegedly assaulted her.
Police suspect the husband, who has also allegedly committed suicide, after he locked his wife inside their house before setting the building alight.
"Unfortunately, it burned to ashes and she died instantly from burning wounds," says police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe.
Her husband, also aged 75, was later found hanging from a tree in the nearby bushes.
"The cause of domestic conflict is still unknown at this stage," says Ngoepe.
Police have opened a murder investigation as well as an inquest.
