Limpopo police nabs man for selling pangolin

Limpopo police have arrested a man for selling a live pangolin in the Swartwater area.

The 35-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday at Tom Burke outside Lephalale for being in possession of a pangolin.
Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says they received information about a person selling live pangolin in the Swartwater area.
"Members of the Endangered Species Unit of the South African Police Service were then activated and succeeded in apprehending the suspect and confiscating the pangolin after following up on the information provided.”
The suspect is expected to appear in Phalala Magistrate’s Court on Monday for being possession of an endangered species.
Meanwhile, one of the two accused who were arrested in Mokopane after being found selling a pangolin has been sentenced to six years imprisonment without the option of a fine.
"This after pleading guilty to the charge against him. The remaining accused, Ronald Nelushi aged 41 had his case transferred to Mahwelereng Regional Court for trial," says Mojapelo.
Emmanuel Mlampo and Ronald Nelushi were arrested for selling a pangolin in the Mokopane CBD.
