Limpopo police officers, public servants sentenced for corruption

Three Limpopo police officers and a home affairs official have been handed hefty sentences following their conviction on charges of corruption.
The cops, 37-year-old Ratlou Moroana and 34-year-old Mahlatsi Tselane, were sentenced in the Mokopane Regional Court on Wednesday.
Spokesperson for the Hawks in Limpopo Sampo Mabuyi says the two were arrested in January in connection with the smuggling of cars at the Groblersbridge border.

"On 23 January 2018, a takedown operation was conducted by the Hawks where two former officials from Home Affairs Department, a civilian impersonating the same organisation and three SAPS members who were attached at Groblersbridge port of entry were arrested for corruption.
"The officials were assisting criminals to smuggle stolen vehicles through the port of entry to Botswana in exchange for money.”
He says the Home Affairs officials, 31-year-old Tryphina Tshabalala and 37-year-old Kgomotso Morena, were each sentenced to 15 years behind bars.
A third police officer, 40-year-old Matome Mafa, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.
