Limpopo pupil dies amid claims of bullying by teachers

The Department of Education in Limpopo has launched an investigation into the death of a Grade 12 pupil who was allegedly bullied by teachers.
Joseph Maimela (20), from Kgabo Secondary School in Moletji, outside Polokwane, died by suicide over the weekend.
Provincial Education MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has vowed to get to the bottom of the issue.
"Allegations of ill-treatment by school administrators as reported will be thoroughly investigated," said the MEC’s spokesperson, Matome Taueatsoala.
"The department extends its sincerest condolences to the bereaved family and the entire education sector.
"The MEC has since offered her heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and ultimately instituted an internal investigation into the matter following allegations of abuse that led to the suicide of the learner."
