Limpopo students destroy property, loot shops

Thirteen students at University of Limpopo’s Turfloop campus were arrested after shops were broken into and looted during a protest, police said on Tuesday.

Tyres were set alight on Monday night, a security vehicle was set alight. They demanded that all outstanding debts at the university be cleared,” said spokeswoman Colonel Otto.
The arrested students were charged with public violence and possession of stolen goods and were expected to appear in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court soon.
Police were monitoring the Turfloop area.
