A 58-year-old teacher was arrested on Thursday for the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old Grade 7 pupil.

The teacher is said to be employed at a primary school in Capricorn South Education District.
The spokesperson for the MEC of Education, Mike Maringa, said they will await police investigations before taking any action against the teacher.
"The Limpopo Department of Education commends the principal of the school, where the 13-year-old is a learner, who took the effort to report this matter for further handling by the police,"
"We are sending social workers, since schools are now on recess, to further take the matter up with the family and the learner at home."
He said the department would conduct its own internal investigation to determine what transpired between the pupil and the teacher.
