Police said the child’s decomposing body was discovered in the bushes at Manganya Farm on Friday after unknown men allegedly snatched the girl after attacking her grandmother at her house in Makgakgabatse village in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“On Sunday 5 March, an elderly woman aged 75 was allegedly awoken by her daughter-in-law who knocked at the door, saying she brought her two kids for ancestral rituals and was surprised to see her in the company of an unknown man. The two allegedly left soon after their request was denied,” said police spokesperson, Motlafela Mojapelo.

It's alleged three hours later, unknown men returned to strangle the elderly woman, leaving her for dead.

“Members of Giyani FCS, Tzaneen K9, and Giyani Crime Prevention conducted a search operation for the kidnapped girl and sadly, her tiny decomposing body was found hanged with a rope under a tree,” said Mojapelo.

The woman was arrested after a police investigation led them to Kempton Park in Gauteng.  She faces charges of kidnapping, murder, and attempted murder.
