Limpopo's new municipality appoints mayor

The ANC has confirmed the appointment of Joyce Bila as the mayor of the newly formed municipality in Vuwani in the Malamulele area.

Bila is the deputy chairperson of the ANC Women's League in the Vhembe region.
ANC made an announcement late yesterday following a Provincial Executive Committee meeting.
This brings to an end weeks of speculations on who will be leading the municipality to ensure that services in both communities of Malamulele and Vuwani are delivered.
The name of the new municipality will be confirmed by the council at its first sitting.

During the public hearings last month the majority of the residents were in favour of naming the municipality after the late cabinet minister, Collins Chabane who died in a car accident last year.
Meanwhile the Mayors of Thulamela and Makhado were also announced and Mushoni Tshifango will lead the Thulamela municipality while Mildrent Senyosi will be the mayor of Makhado.
The area has been at the centre of violent protests as a result of a demarcation issue.

The protests has seen schools in Vuwani torched.
Schooling in Vuwani resumed on Wednesday after yet another school was set alight in Vuwani.
