LISTEN: ANC lays criminal charges against Steve Hofmeyr

The African National Congress (ANC) has laid criminal charges against Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr at the Johannesburg Central Police Station on Monday.
The charges follow a tweet by Hofmeyr last week, where he responded to South Africa's ambassador to Denmark Zindzi Mandela.

Hofmeyr's tweet insinuates that should land expropriation occur then there would be a fight back which could ultimately lead to a loss of life.
The tweet by Hofmeyr was met with outrage in some quarters, with many accusing him of inciting violence.

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe says it's for this reason that the party has laid criminal charges against him.

The ANC says it will be seeking weekly updates from the police station on the progress of the case.
