Chairperson of the African National Congress (ANC) in Tshwane Kgosi Maepa believes Democratic Alliance (DA) mayoral candidate Randall Williams will do the bidding of the party’s federal chair Helen Zille.

The DA announced Randall Williams as their preferred candidate for mayor following the resignation of incumbent Stevens Mokgalapa.

Williams served as MMC for Economic Development and Spatial Planning and as chairman of the Municipal Appeals Tribunal between 2016 and 2019.
Maepa address the media on Wednesday following the decision to postpone a council meeting meant to hear motions of no confidence in various DA officials, including council speaker Katlego Mathebe.
He claims that Williams belongs to the so-called white caucus in the DA.
“We know he is a tools boy of the madame, so he is Randall ‘Tools Boy’ Williams, he is a tools boy of Helen Zille and the other guy John ‘Judas’ Steenhuisen.
“This is a tools boy that the DA is bringing now… and he is the fourth candidate that the DA is bringing forward on the issue of mayor.”
Meapa claims acting mayor Abel Tau was not considered by the DA as he does not have the right allegiances within party.
