Mpianzi’s father, Guy Itamba said he stood in front of the full hall with a broken heart, adding that losing a child is something one could never prepare for.

“Enoch was a remarkable child, even in death he left a mark,” said Itamba.

“He had so many dreams and so many plans for the future, but God decided otherwise.

“Enoch, my son, I love with all my heart,” said Itamba.

Itamba closed his eulogy by making a promise to Mpianzi to continue being a proud father and taking care of his siblings.

Mpianzi’s cousin, Debora Kodiamoka said the last time they spoke, he promised to share his experience at the camp.

“Little did you and I know that we will never have that conversation.

“You will never be forgotten, today we remember and celebrate you; not just in our minds but in our hearts also.

“There is a void, an empty space without you,” said Kodiamoka.

Kodiamoka read the last letter Mpianzi wrote to God at the end of 2019 to the mourners.

The letter is part of the church’s tradition to ask God the things congregants hope to manifest in their lives.

“Things I don’t want to happen; I don’t want to be shot, I don’t to be stabbed, I don’t want to get robbed, I don’t want to get killed,” Kodiamoka read from the letter.

The MEC of Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, promised the family that the department of Education will ensure that the family of Mpianzi receive the full report of the investigation into his death.

Mazibuko says all the aspects of the investigation will be interrogated and implemented.

“We shall make sure that the family, get to know the truth as it will be uncovered by the investigation.

“We will also use the findings to make sure the gaps that still and lapses that may occurs of safety of young people in our care immediately addressed,” said Mazibuko.

The body of the 13-year-old was retrieved from the Crocodile River last week.
