The Parktown Boys' High School pupil drowned at the resort during the school's Grade 8 orientation camp.

Lawyer Daniel Eloff says Mpianzi's death is an unfortunate loss of life.

"The staff of Nyati are obviously extremely traumatised and heartbroken about the incident that took place," says Eloff.

It is believed that Mpianzi had been taking part in a river rafting activity on the Crocodile River at the time of his disappearance.

"Our client is not denying anyone to visit the premises. "Our clients were, during the course of this week, when they were asked by the Human Rights Commission if they could come and visit, they were in Pretoria consulting with us, so obviously unavailable there at the premises to have the Human Rights Commission enter.

An inconsolable family, accompanied by the South African Human Rights Commission, forced their way into the resort for a site inspection on Tuesday, claiming to have been denied access by the resort.

Eloff says the owners of the resort hope to meet with the family on Friday to offer them their account of events.

"The property will be open to the family on Friday morning," says Eloff.

"The invitation is there, we'll then on Friday see the family members as well as, I think, the Human Rights Commission.”

The drowning of Mpianzi has sent shock waves throughout the country, with many demanding accountability from the Gauteng Education Department and the school.

The family has received widespread support from various organisations, with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) expected to visit the family on Wednesday.
