LISTEN: Pregnant woman, bus driver killed in bus crash

According to Netcare 911, a Metrobus bus driver died on scene while a pregnant woman was declared dead shortly after arriving at hospital. No early morning confirmation as to whether the unborn child could be saved.

"Upon assessment of all sixty-six occupants, paramedics found that a male driver of one of the busses tragically lost his life during the crash. A further four people were found to have sustained critical injuries while the remaining passengers sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious," it said in a statement.

According to Netcare 911's Santi Steinman the fire department was extricating three entrapped people from the bus.

"Tragically a pregnant woman that sustained critical injuries passed away shortly after arrival at the hospital."
