[LISTEN] SA assured: no Ebola in SA or neighbouring countries

Bloomberg explains that simulation exercises are done from time to time to test the readiness for a medical situation, but that the country has had precautionary measures in place since 2014 already with no Ebola cases reported near South Africa.
South Africans have been assured that there is no need to be concerned about Ebola in the country as there have been no cases of the disease in South Africa or its neighbouring countries.
This after a simulation exercise was conducted for if a theoretical case of Ebola were to be reported here.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD)'s Professor Lucille Bloomberg says: "Countries do conduct simulation exercise or table-top exercises to test their preparedness. There are no cases in the country or the surrounding countries at all."
Bloomberg explains that simulation exercises are done from time to time to test the readiness for a medical situation, but that the country has had precautionary measures in place since 2014 already with no Ebola cases reported near South Africa.
"South Africa and surrounding countries are considered low risk, says Bloomberg.
