Mapaila was speaking during the funeral of MK Veteran Peter Dambuza at Makonde outside Thohoyandou on Saturday morning.

"In his attempts to fights against corruption, to clean government and to clean the ANC, we must not be in despair," he said.

Ramaphosa is at loggerheads with, among others, former ANC president Jacob Zuma after he wrote a letter to ANC members about corruption in the party.

"Some people have begun to question whether he (Ramaphosa) is capable of fighting this scourge," noted Mapaila.

However, he urged law enforcement authorities to arrest those implicated in fraud and corruption.

"There is enough evidence- they must use that evidence to act," he said.

Mapaila called on South Africans to mobilise behind Rmaphosa.
