"We are going to meet on the streets up until Misnitner responds positively to those demands," says the South African Union of Students.
The South African Union of Students (SAUS) as well as representatives from all 26 Higher Education Student Representative Councils (SRCs) were meeting in Pretoria on Saturday.
They were discussing the way forward in the volatile student protests that have rocked the coutry this week.
The protest that started at Wits in Joahnensbrug turned deadly, and students gave Higher Education minister, Blade Nzimande until Friday afternoon to react to their list of demands.

According to SAUS's Thabo Shingange, the minister acknowledged receipt of the list of demands but has not yet addressed any of the issues listed.
"We are going to meet on the streets up until Misnitner responds positively to those demands," he said.
According to Shingange, their demands to the minister boil down to one thing, "which is the demand for free education which has been promised since 1994."
The union initially threatened to shut down all higher education institutions on Monday but says their meeting is aimed at discussing the way forward for students and higher education institutions.
