Updated | By Nokukhanya Mntambo
Two people were shot and killed in Coronationville, west of Johannesburg on Tuesday.
Police say the victims are believed to be in their 30s and both were killed outside different spaza shops in the area.
"One died in front the spaza shop and the other also died in front of another spaza shot and they are in different areas. The other one is in Sophiatown and the other one is in Brixton," says spokesperson, Kay Makhubele
The killings take place on the backdrop of rising tension between locals and migrants around the province.
Foreign-owned businesses in Ekurhuleni, Tshwane and the Johannesburg Central Business District (CBD) have been rocked by intermittent looting for several weeks.
"Both of them were shot at by different people. These suspects have been arrested."
A total of three suspects have been arrested and will appear in the Sophiatown Magistrates Court on charges of murder.
