In 2016, Vuwani resident’s shut down the area damaging more than 10 schools, including government buildings and businesses.

They want to be moved from the Collins Chabane municipality and incorporated into Makhado local municipality.

“There seems to be some sort of a light under the tunnel we find ourselves in, we are happy about the latest development,” says the pro-Makhado task team’s Nsovo Sambo.

He says the same process that was followed when Vuwani was added to the Collins Chabane municipality will now be followed to possibly move them.

“Once of the deciding factors will be how far we go as the task team in doing our part, once we are done with that and the minister has engaged the demarcation board then everything will start rolling out,” Sambo says.
