Williams says he never told journalists that his administration is considering a ban on selling alcohol to the unvaccinated.

He believes he was quoted out of context at Zwartkops Raceway drive-thru site on Wednesday when talking about incentives for those who got their jabs.

Williams told JacarandaFM News on Friday there is still a concern around the consumption of alcohol at large events.

“The issue is not the buying of alcohol, we are not saying people must stay without alcohol. What I am saying is about consumption at certain events which results to superseders, when people go to clubs, they get closer together and bring the infection home, we need to attack the conspiracy theories out there to get people to vaccinate.

“We are still grappling to come up with solutions to get people to come out and vaccinate.”
