[LISTEN] Zuma vows to fight corruption on the continent
Updated | By Thabo Tshabalala
President Jacob Zuma says there can be no doubt that
corruption is a problem in Africa, and the continent’s leaders need to step up
the fight against the scourge.
He was speaking at the conclusion of the African Union Summit in Ethiopia.
President Zuma said although the problem is at times exaggerated, there is a need to formulate plans to bring an end to corruption.
The president himself has corruption charges hanging over his head, and was also implicated in the former public protector’s State of Capture report for his alleged dealings with the controversial Gupta family.
He has instituted a commission of inquiry into state capture, which will investigate the Gupta family’s dealings with the state.
