Little to no water for some Jhb residents as power failure hits pump station
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
Residents in parts of Johannesburg may experience restricted water supply following a power failure at Rand Water’s Vereeniging purification works.

The outage affected the Eikenhof pump station and reservoir, having a knockoff effect on the Hursthill, Brixton, and Crosby reservoirs.
Johannesburg Water’s Eleanor Mavimbela says the recovery of the reservoirs will take place overnight, with full restoration expected in at least 72 hours.
“We are monitoring the supply to critical customers such hospitals in the affected areas and our technical team is ready to assist should a need arise,” says Mavimbela.
“Customers in higher-lying areas will experience no water or poor pressure during the recovery period. We urge customers to use water sparingly at this time.”
“Arrangements are being made to cater for customers in Sophiatown and Coronationville,” Mavimbela adds.
