Load shedding, high demand leaves parts of Polokwane without water for a week

Parts of Polokwane in Limpopo are still without water.

The municipality saw water shortages at the start of the week, mainly due to high demand and load shedding at the Ebenezer Plant.
Reservoirs in Polokwane were also struggling with levels, some registering zero.
By Friday, areas including Ivydale, Nirvana, Hoog Street, Oost Street, Moregloed, Cnr Wester and Thabo Mbeki, Flora Park and upper parts of Bendor, Sterpark and Serala View were amongst those receiving no supply.
Areas experiencing low pressure include Magazyn Street, Fauna Park and lower parts of Serala View, Sterpark and Bendor.
The municipalities spokesperson Thipa Selala assured residents and businesses that teams were working around the clock to restore water supply.
“While the municipality is working with Lepelle Northern Water on the recovery of reservoir levels, water tankers will be assisting affected areas with water supply,” he said.
He added the municipality hoped to have the situation resolved by the weekend.
