Stage 3 load shedding will then make a comeback until midnight.

“Thereafter, load shedding will resume as previously communicated with Stage 3 load shedding implemented from 16:00 until midnight and then suspended from midnight until 16:00 on Sunday,” said Eskom interim spokesperson Daphne Mokwena.

At the same time, Johannesburg City Power has warned residents to use electricity sparingly as inclement weather was expected to increase pressure on the power network.

The South African Weather Service forecast a dip in temperatures due to a cold front gripping parts of the country over the weekend into Monday.

Residents are also encouraged to unplug heavy appliances, such as geysers, stoves, and heaters during load shedding at least 15 minutes before power restoration to avoid inrush currents trips.
