Loadshedding suspended for the day, but will return this evening
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Eskom says it has suspended loadshedding from 4 am on Tuesday.
This comes after the embattled state power utility announced on Sunday that Stage 2 of the power cuts was implemented.
It was expected to last until 10 pm on Tuesday.
However, Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says engineers have returned seven generation units to service.
"This has helped ease the supply constraints and enabled Eskom to suspend loadshedding at this point.
"However, this is currently insufficient to fully supply the evening peak.
"Stage 2 loadshedding will therefore again be implemented from 17:00 until 22:00 tonight," says Mantshantsha.
HE adds the power utility expects the situation to improve as the week progresses, but warns Eskom is experiencing a sharp increase in the demand for electricity during the evening peak hours.
