Law enforcement officials clamped down on taxi marshals who violated regulations on the first day of lockdown at Bara Taxi Tank in Soweto.

Friday marked the first day of a three-week long national lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Commuters were forced to exit taxis which had more passengers than stipulated by the regulations.

Community Safety MEC Faith Mazibuko visited the taxi rank on Friday, admitting it was a challenge for law enforcement.
"The minute one turns their back it becomes business as usual. So it means we have to continuously place all the law enforcement officials at all hot-spots. I am a 100% sure by Monday the drivers will comply, it is only the first day, we have some teething problems," she said.
