Pirates released a brief statement in which it confirmed that the 30-year-old, who joined Pirates in 2016, would be leaving the club following “a discussion” between Chairman Irvin Khoza and Mamelodi Sundowns.

“The Club thanks “Nyoso” for his immense contribution by adding another page in the history of the Club. We wish him and his family well in his future sporting pursuit,” read the statement.

The exchange was confirmed moments before the closure of the January transfer window at midnight.

Fans took to social media to react to news of the move, while Sundowns used its official pages to welcome its latest addition.

Lorch has been a favourite, despite some backlash from anti-gender based violence activists over his much-publicised personal issues.

The Randburg Magistrates Court found him guilty of assaulting his girlfriend in 2020.

He was sentenced to three years in prison, however, the sentence was suspended for five years on condition he was not found guilty of a similar crime in the said period.
