According to the newspaper’s website, 30-year old Nhlanhla “Budha” Dlamini, who won the jackpot in 2014, died on impact along with his passenger, Siyanda Gumede, when his V8 Mercedes Benz crashed into a bakkie on the R102 on Monday afternoon near Felixton, south of Empangeni.
The bakkie driver and his two passengers were injured and taken to hospital.
The Zululand Observer reported that Dlamini had worked in Ngwelezane township, braaing meat at R10 per customer, before his lucky windfall.
“He was a jolly person with a love for fast cars who just wanted to drive all the time, listening to music. He was free and humble and always willing to assist anyone who asked for help,” an unnamed friend told the newspaper. - ANA
