Low risk of load shedding on Saturday
The risk of load shedding is low on Saturday even though a number of generating units are undergoing short-term planned maintenance over the weekend.
“The electricity system will be significantly tight until these units return back on line on Monday. Weekends are usually periods of low demand.
"However, we will utilise our emergency reserves to augment the capacity shortfall should demand increase beyond what is projected,” Eskom said in a statement.
“We call on all electricity users to continue using electricity sparingly and to make this a lifestyle.”
