Low risk of loadshedding today

“This will enable Eskom to carry out its planned maintenance. Eskom has not implemented loadshedding over the past 16 successive days,” the power utility said.
“Yesterday’s evening peak demand for electricity (of 30,722MW) was met by available capacity (of 32,171MW). Eskom’s aim is to meet the country’s electricity needs and maintain its power generating units with minimal or no loadshedding.”
Eskom warned that if it should experience additional generating unit failure, the possibility of loadshedding would intensify.
The power utility appealed to consumers to continue reducing their electricity usage throughout the day and to stay aware of the need to save more during peak periods, from 6am to 10am and from 5pm to 9pm.
