ESKOM hopes they will not have to implement loadshedding this week.

 

It's the first Monday of the year with factories, industries and most businesses resuming operations after the festive season.

 

The power giant's Khulu Phasiwe  warns that the network is under pressure .

 

“If we do have all our generating units operating optimally as they are now. Then we will go through today and this week without implementing loadshedding. Our ability to ensure security of supply depends on all our units operating optimally” he said.

HIGHER education minister Blade Nzimande is looking ahead at the new year for post matriculant’s .

 

Nzimande says entrance to University is not the only route to follow.

 

“I want take this opportunity to urge those who have not passed matric to access all the sources of relevant information that the department has created specifically for them to choose from a range of options. Explore all the opportunities that are there. The future of our youth does not only lie on going to University” he said.

THE independent Electoral commission says there is no evidence of mass fraudulent registration during the 2013 controversial Tlokwe by- elections.

 

Independent candidates have brought an application to set the results aside and launch an investigation in the by-elections, during which the ANC won 8 out of 9 wards.

 

The candidates are disputing the IEC’s findings that only 1040 people brought out illegal votes.

 

The IEC’s legal representative told the court that there was no irregularities.

SANPARKS has confirmed that a criminal charge has been filed, following an incident between a ranger in the Kruger National Park and an SANDF soldier.

 

The Soldiers have been stationed in the park to guard the area against rhino poachers.

 

 

SANparks spokesperson Paul Daphne would not confirm the charges brought against the solider.

 

 

“In December last year there was an incident between one of our  section rangers and a member of the SANDF.  We lodged  a complaint with the SANDF, we also requested that the SAPS investigate the incident and they have given a document to the national prosecuting authority. We can’t go into the details of the incident” he said.

 

 

 FRANCE’S  defence minister says from tomorrow  the country is mobilizing 10,000 security forces to protect the country after three days of terror attacks.

 

Some five  thousand police officers will be deployed around Jewish schools, following the killing of people at a Kosher market in Paris.
