Five suspects have been so far been arrested for the massacre, which left 18 people dead.

However, one suspect is still on the run, and the weapons used in the mass shooting have not been found.

On Tuesday, the first suspect, Siphosoxolo Myekethe, appeared in court and abandoned his bail application.

Masemola and Police Minister Senzo Mchunu briefed the media in Cape Town.

"We also have one of the suspects that is still standing, that is on the run. We're able to retrieve or confiscate his vehicle, so in total, people currently arrested is five,” Masemola said.

He added that the search for the remaining suspect has been extended to Correctional Services facilities amid allegations that the hit could have been ordered by an inmate.

"We do expect more arrests in the future, we are having one that is on the run that we are looking for,” Masemola said.

"We can't say it will be the last one, as the minister said, we are also looking somewhere in the Correctional Services

"We are also looking for further arrests in that regard in the Correctional Service. The ones that we arrested, some of them are previously committed crime," he added.
