Madlala told the Pretoria High Court on Tuesday that he initially didn’t not want to give out Senzo’s pictures but was persuaded by his brother Sfiso and cousin, Siya.

He was being questioned my defense attorney for accused number 5,  Adv Zandile Mshololo.

“How come you gave  your best friend’s pictures to Netflix immediately after his death,” she asked.

“Senzo’s brother is the one who said I must assist with the Netflix documentary,” said Madlala.

“Did he force you?”

“No he did not force me,” responded Madlala.

Madlala has refused to answer questions on how much he was paid for the documentary, choosing to remain mum.

“Were you paid for giving those pictures to Netflix,” questioned Mshololo.

“Yes I was paid because I was refusing.”

“How much were you paid Mr Madlala? "How much were you given by Netflix to give out your best friend’s pictures? Do you still remember or you don’t remember how much you were given to give out the deceased’s pictures?," asked Mshololo.

“I don’t remember”, Madlala answered.

The court also heard how Madlala did not share any of his proceeds with the Meyiwa family.

“Did you share the money with the Meyiwa family.. Sfiso and Siya,” asked Mshololo.

“Why should I share the money?" he responded.

“We want to know who benefited here? We want to know who benefitted from this project,” asked Mshololo.

It has emerged in court that Meyiwa’s mother, who also participated in the Netflix documentary got paid R250 000 to feature in it.
