Magashule loses bid to have corruption charges scrapped

The Free State High Court has dismissed Ace Magashule's bid to have the Asbestos corruption charges against him scrapped.

This after Magashule, businessman Edwin Sodi and other co-accused questioned the legality of the case against them.
Magashule and 15 co-accused, which includes five companies, are facing charges relating to the R255 million asbestos tender fraud in the Free State.
The allegations stem back to Magashule's time as premier of the Free State.
The group claimed there was no validity to the State's case.
But the court dismissed the legal challenge.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has welcomed Monday's judgment.
"The NPA welcomes the judgment and will now focus on ensuring that the pretrial conference is concluded on the next court date so that a trial date can be arranged," said NPA national spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga.
"We have always maintained that all the matters raised by the accused should be ventilated by the trial court when the trial proceedings commence. The NPA has full confidence in the strength of its case and will let the evidence speak for itself during the trial," he added.
