Maimane: Ramphosa failing to provide economic leadership
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane has urged President Cyril Ramphosa to establish an economic crisis committee in parliament.

Maimane has accused Ramaposa of failing to provide leadership at a time when the country is facing an economic crisis.
South Africa saw an increase in its unemployment rate with joblessness in the second quarter jumping to 29%.
This is the highest since 2008.
In addition, Eskom also reported a R20,7 billion loss during the past financial year on Tuesday.
“We need to work together across all parties in order to establish an economic crisis in order to attend to this economic crisis before us,” Maimane says.
“Over 10 million South Africans are unemployed, we need to take deliberate steps with the economy to ensure that state-owned enterprises are reformed.”

At the same time Maimane has requested an urgent meeting with Ramaphosa to discuss the establishment of the committee.
