The African National Congress (ANC) in Kwa-Zulu Natal has charged vocal MP Makhosi Khoza with two counts of ill-discipline.

Khoza has been highly critical of President Jacob Zuma's leadership, calling him illegitimate and saying he should step down.

She also stated she will vote in favour of the motion of no confidence against him on the 8th of August, despite the ANC's stance that all MP's will vote along party lines against the motion.

Acting Provincial Secretary Super Zuma says the charge sheet was sent to Khoza on Tuesday night.

"We sent the charges yesterday evening. We cannot divulge the exact charges as it is a matter between Comrade Khosa and the ANC," says Zuma.

In a leaked charge sheet, the ANC is accusing Khoza of contravening eleven of the party's rules, including bringing the ANC into disrepute and behaving in a manner which provokes divisions or impacts negatively on the unity of the ANC.

Most of the charges relate to remarks she made about the ANC's leadership in KZN.

The ANC also says her utterances constitute a public attack on the organisation and its leadership.

Khoza's hearing is set to take place on the 10th of September in Durban.
