Makhosi Khoza disciplinary hearing to go ahead
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
The lawyer representing ANC MP Makhosi Khoza wants the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal to put Khoza's disciplinary hearing on hold but, provincial party officials are insisting it will go ahead.
Advocate Smanga Sethene says the hearing - rescheduled for this Sunday - should be suspended because of the Pietermaritzburg High Court ruling this week.
The court found that the 2015 ANC provincial conference was unlawful.
The KZN ANC says it will be appealing the judgement.
The party's provincial spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli says the hearing will proceed as planned.
"The ANC would not accept the reasoning behind the request for the postponement," says Ntuli, adding, "we still expect comrade Makhosi to appear before the DC on Sunday."
Khoza is accused of ill-discipline and bringing the party into disrepute following her public calls for President Jacob Zuma to step down.
She has also been removed as chairperson of Parliament's Public Service and Administration Committee and was subsequently moved to the Economic Development Oversight Committee.
