Makhura: Coalition politics disrupting service delivery
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Gauteng Premier David Makhura has told a local government summit in Boksburg that service delivery is being disrupted by coalition politics.
Makhura addressed the summit in Boksburg on Tuesday morning.
"Sitting where I sit, coalition politics are disrupting development and service delivery. Everytime there is a change people start afresh. We never say this is where we were,” Makhura said.
"Of course democracy is a disruptive process.. There's madness in a democracy, there's unreasonableness in a democracy, but development is important.

"If we anchor everything in a long term vision, the long term plan and defend the right of our community to take on more steps we can't always when we have a new government we start afresh."
All three the big metro municipalities in Gauteng, Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni, are governed by coalition agreements.
Some analysts believe the national government could also be heading for a coalition following the 2024 national polls, should the ANC electoral support continue to decline.
