Makhura excited to work with new mayors

Gauteng Premier David Makhura says he is excited to work with the province's new mayors, including those from the DA.
Makura announced on Wednesday that the province received unqualified audits for all 12 provincial departments and public entities.
The premier explained that this was the best performance by the province in 13 years.
He highlighted the Premier's Office and Treasury for receiving unqualified audits, saying these departments have to lead by example.
The Department of Health was also praised for its successful turnaround.
Makhura said the department has had a dark cloud over it for a decade.
The premier said he will engage with all the mayors on how they can get the provincial economy going.
"I want to work with these mayors to focus on unlocking the potential of every sector of the Gauteng economy. That is the work we are already doing. We will need them to bring their energy and expertise into this work," he said.
Makhura said he plans on receiving clean audits in the future.
"The audit outcomes that we received today show that we have done a lot in 2014 to move towards a clean government, a government that is transparent and accountable to the people of Gauteng. It is for this reason that we will not rest until all our departments and entities ultimately achieve 100 percent clean audits."
