Simphiwe Moropane, Khathutshelo Muedi and Mduduzi Ndlovu died while trying to extinguish a fire at the Bank of Lisbon building that housed the department of Health.

The’s DA’s Jack Bloom said the families need closure about the deadly fire.

"Premier David Mkahura must keep his promise to release the investigation report into the fire at the bank of Lisbon building which happened three years ago, I don't why there has been such delay with the full report that has been done, but i suspect this because it implicates senior politicians and officials. The families are still grieving of the three fire fighters who died, they need closure, and we need accountability for this terrible fire."

Bloom said criminal charges should be instituted if the report reveals that the fire was started intentionally to destroy the evidence of corruption.

"There have been allegations that evidence of corruption was deliberately destroyed in the fire, and we need to know if that was a motivation for why this fire happened, was it accidental, could have been prevented. But we do know is that there wasn’t occupational health and safety committee as it is required by law and officials and politicians who didn’t ensure that was there should be held accountable for failing to prevent this fire. We have also raised this within the Gauteng legislature."
