Gauteng Premier David Makhura has officially reopened the Lenasia South District hospital on Friday.

The facility, which was previously a clinic, was opened on Friday following extensive refurbishment by the provincial government over the past few months.
Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development and Property Management Tasneem Motara said R48 million has been spent on improvements at the facility.
"The new installations as well as the work we did in terms of conversions from clinic to hospital beds came into an investment amount of R48 million from the provincial government. We directly appointed five companies to do the work.”

Makhura described it as a state-of-the-art facility.
"The hospital has new equipment including state of the art beds and X-ray machines. The community will now receive comprehensive care which was not possible," he said.
The hospital also has over 100 beds for Covid-19 patients, with Makhura vowing that the project would not be mired in corruption.
