Malema labels NHI 'election gimmick' at final rally

The EFF leader Julius Malema says the signing of National Health Insurance into law by President Cyril Ramaphosa was nothing more than an election gimmick.
Ramaphosa last week signed into law the controversial bill, which seeks to achieve universal healthcare for all South Africans.
At the same time, the DA and several other organisations vowed to take legal action against the implementation, saying the government does not have the capacity to facilitate NHI in its current form.
"They are just saying, you are going to go to the hospitals free of charge, they are lying. They were signing it because it was an election gimmick," Malema told scores of supporters on Saturday.
"They were signing it because they were playing with the feelings of our people."
Malema addressed the EFF's final campaign rally ahead of Wednesday's general elections at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday,
Malema promised voters a more sustainable healthcare system.
"We will introduce a national healthcare system that will have clinics that operate 24/7, that will have ambulances, that will have doctors, that will have nurses and we will ensure that those clinics do not close at 4 o'clock.
"This story that there are unemployed doctors will come to an end."
