Speaking at the party’s fifth anniversary celebrations, Malema accused Motsepe of capturing the state in the same manner as the controversial Gupta family.

The Gupta family is accused of looting millions from state-owned companies under the rule of former President Jacob Zuma.

Motsepe is related by marriage to President Cyril Ramaphosa and Minister of Energy, Jeff Radebe.

"South Africa is not a banana republic, and South Africa did not elect Patrice Motsepe as president. He must know his place. He must sit down," said Malema.

Malema believes Motsepe is using his brothers-law-in to capture the state.

"Patrice, you must ask the Gupta's about us, if you want to know us, ask the Gupta's. Patrice stop being greedy, you have made your money."

Malema warned the thousands of the party's supporters to be aware of the Motsepe family, saying the family is becoming dangerous.

"They are taking everything for themselves. We like you, Patrice, you are our brother, but greed will make us fight you."

Malema said if Motsepe continues with the new state capture, the party will target his mines.

"Please be warned, stay away from our government, it is not a Motsepe government."
