Malusi Gigaba to lead international investment roadshow
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
New finance minister Malusi Gigaba says he will not be influenced by any outside forces, including the controversial Gupta family.
Gigaba briefed media in Pretoria on the back of the decision by credit ratings agency Standard & Poor's to downgrade the country to junk status.
Gigaba had a handover meeting with predecessor Pravin Gordhan.
He says S&P's decision to downgrade South Africa was due to fears over a possible change in policy following the cabinet reshuffle.

But Gigaba says he remains committed to the fiscal consolidation.
"I do intend leading a delegation of business people, labour and other stakeholders. We do need to address the perceptions about the political stability, the risks and uncertainty they are talking about," Gigaba said.
Gigaba says while he knows the Gupta family and has been invited to some of their events, he has no personal relationship with them.
"I have met them and meeting somebody does not mean that they have an impact on your decisions. Ultimately I make my own decisions."
