Mamabolo learners get mobile classrooms after shutdown
Updated | By Maidi Monareng
Learners in Mamabolo will be back at school on Monday, after a two week shutdown of over 20 schools in the area.
Congress of South African Students (COSAS) and parents shut down schools in the area, demanding that the Limpopo Education Department provide mobile classrooms for MR Machaka Secondary school.
The school was damaged in a fire last year and learners have since been forced to attend classes under trees.
COSAS branch coordinator Piet Bopape says mobile classrooms have finally been delivered.
"Two mobile classrooms were assembled yesterday and a third one is currently being assembled," said Bopape.
School Governing Body (SGB) Secretary Elizabeth Choenyane hailed the shutdown as a success, saying the department finally came good on its promises.
"It feels good, because we have been waiting for them for so long. Now we are happy and ready to get back to work," said Choenyane.
The department declined to comment.
