The City of Tshwane on Friday warned Mamelodi residents and surrounding areas to brace themselves for a dry start to the weekend.

The city’s Water and Sanitation Department is attending to a major water leak on the bulk pipeline, which supplies the Mamelodi R3 and R4 Reservoirs.
Tshwane has been battling serious water challenges since the beginning of the year and came under fire after more than 20 people lost their lives due to the outbreak of cholera in Hammanskraal.
Newly appointed Public Protector Kholeka Gcaleka has found that the City of Tshwane had failed to supply the residents of Hammanskraal with water that is suitable for human consumption.
Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the repair work is expected to be completed on Saturday.
“The team is currently scouring the bulk pipeline, and once the supply line is empty, repair work will be effected immediately. Water tankers have been arranged to service customers in affected areas”.
Affected areas include Mamelodi, Mamelodi Ext 2, Mamelodi Ext 3, Mamelodi Ext 4, Mamelodi Ext 5, Mamelodi Ext 6, Mamelodi Ext 7, Mamelodi Ext 8, Mamelodi Ext 10, Mamelodi Ext 12, Mamelodi Ext 17, Mamelodi Ext 20, Mamelodi Ext 28 and Mamelodi 608-jr.
