Man (24) shot by mother after assaulting sister
Police in Mdantsane are investigating a
case of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm after a 45-year-old
mother fatally shot her son in Slovo Park informal settlement on Wednesday
afternoon.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson Captain Nkosikho Mzuku says the incident happened after an argument between siblings.
“It is alleged that the 24-year-old deceased had an argument with his sister after she accused him of stealing her cellphone.”
Mzuku says that a physical altercation then ensued and that was when the 24 year-old was shot by his mother.
“The deceased attacked his sister with a wheel spanner. Then the mother took her boyfriend's firearm and fatally shot her son instantly.”
The suspect is due to appear in the Mdantsane Magistrate's Court soon on charges of murder and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
