Man accused of raping two minors at Pretoria hotel ‘should spend life behind bars’

The 45-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Pretoria on Friday for allegedly raping the two girls aged 11 and 13.   

He appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday.  

“We are very angry and disgusted that the paedophile would actually look at a young two young girls and look at them as a sexual beings to feast upon,” says #NotInMyNameSA general-secretary Themba Masango.

“We have expressed to the court that the man should not be given bail because if he is given bail, his safety will not be guaranteed outside.”

Masango says they want a speedy trial to allow the two minor victims can put the ordeal behind them.

 “The man even confessed, and we will accept nothing except a harsh sentence which life sentence for the perpetrator because people like these have proven that they don’t want to be part of the society and he should join Nicholas Ninow in prison.” 

Masango says the hotel manager has fired one of the security guards for allowing the suspect to enter the hotel with the minors. 

"We were actually surprised that the manager was willing to take responsibility for some of the actions that the staff and particularly the security guard did. He was given a strict order to watch this man who entered with the two children who looked a little bit dodgy and we know the story afterwards, the girls were raped. 

"It was the hotel staff that called the police and for that we are grateful. The manager went on and fired the security man for not doing his job. In fact, the manager also said he is going to assist the family in terms of counselling for the children and the parents of the children.”  

The man is expected back in court on December 7.
