Man to appear in court over Chabane plot claims
Updated | By sibahle motha
Thembani Chabane, who reportedly claimed to be a relative of Chabane, was taken in for questioning on Wednesday, Limpopo police spokesperson Ronel Otto said.
"Initially when he put the messages on Facebook we opened an inquiry, but after discussions with the senior prosecutor it was decided that the inquiry should be changed to criminal charges," she said.
Chabane and two bodyguards, Sergeants Lesiba Sekele and Lawrence Lentsoane, were killed when a truck allegedly made a U-turn in front of their car on the N1 near Polokwane in Limpopo last month.
The truck driver, Amukelani Rikhotso, appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on Tuesday and was granted R5 000 bail.
