Man arrested for deadly Marshalltown fire

Gauteng apolice have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection to the deadly Marshalltown fire that claimed the lives of over 70 people and left over 100 displaced in August last year.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday afternoon just after admitting under oath to setting the uSindiso building on fire.
He was testifying at the Usindiso Commission of Inquiry into the cause and liability of the August 2023 fire.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon.
Police say the man will face 76 counts of murder and 120 counts of attempted murder.
