Man arrested for speeding in Midrand

A man has been arrested for driving at nearly 200 km/h on the N1 south in Midrand, Johannesburg metro police said on Monday.

A man has been arrested for driving at nearly 200 km/h on the N1 south in Midrand, Johannesburg metro police said on Monday.
"A 23-year-old male from Fourways [in Johannesburg] was caught at 198 km/h in a black [car]," said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar. "He told officers that he was in a hurry to get home after visiting friends in Pretoria." The man was arrested around 1am on Saturday morning. He and 12 other motorists were arrested for speeding in an operation conducted by metro police from Saturday night till Sunday morning. The man and 12 other motorists were expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
